We've had a couple of phone calls regarding a smell of smoke in the Colington area. There is a haze of smoke from an approximately 800 acre wildfire in Hyde County that is the most likely cause of the smell and haze in our area. ... See MoreSee Less

The CVFD has immediate openings for Volunteer Firefighters. Experience is a plus, but we can train folks that have the ability and willingness to become a firefighter. Our department has a small number of career staff, but the majority are volunteer, and the trucks don’t roll to fire calls without them.

We are looking for folks that can tackle the physical challenges and dedicate the time to serving the community. For more information of how you can help, call the station to schedule a visit and see if being a Colington Volunteer Firefighter is for you!

Except for Cadet members, all members must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license and have a high school diploma or GED. Residency in the Colington area is preferred.
