The Colington VFD is celebrating our 40th anniversary of service to the community by holding an open house on Saturday, October 8th from Noon until 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to come visit with your local firefighters, tour our equipment, explore interactive fire and life safety demos and enjoy some free food. Smokey Bear is scheduled to make an appearance with our friends from the NC Department of Forestry too!
Chartered in 1982, the department has experienced explosive growth in the community which now has close to 5,000 residents. A combination of Volunteer and Career staff provide top notch service and respond to fires, crashes and medical emergencies. Over the years, our call volume has increased to well over 700 call per year.
